NNAMDI KANU’s TRIAL | No Shielding of Witnesses – MASSOB
The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has rejected the judgment of Justice Binta Nyako, which allowed the shielding of witnesses in the trial of the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
A statement issued by Servant Leader of MASSOB, Comrade Uchenna Madu, insisted that the Federal High Court, Abuja judgment was in bad faith, noting that “Kanu is not a terrorist”.
Madu said: “The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), with headquarters at Okwe has totally condemned and rejected the judgment of Justice Binta Nyako’s verdict on the trial of our brother, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and others at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
“With utmost concern and consciousness of our brothers’ welfare and security of lives, MASSOB will continue to stand with our incarcerated comrades in prison for the sake of Biafra. How can a trial judge in a so-called independent judiciary as an arm of a government that claimed it operates a democratic government be so cheap and allow herself to be manipulated in such a bizarre manner,” he said.
Madu queried why the arranged witnesses must have their identities covered.
According to him, “Why must masquerades be allowed to testify against human beings? These are signs of jittery, frustration and uncomfortable minds of our oppressors, including the masquerades that are supposed to be revered; it’s also the beauty of non-violence against a tyrannical fundamentalist.
“Though Nigeria’s judiciary is being mesmerised by the Presidency, this latest judicial manipulation against Nnamdi Kanu and others is the worst rascality, subjection and over dominance of the Executive arm of government against the judiciary of the worst democratic government in the world. This judgment is not targeted wholly against the people of Biafra but the Nigerian Christians in general because the Islamic world deeply knows that it is only the people of Biafra that will liberate the Nigerian Christians from the shackles of Islamic, political, religious and cultural domination,” he said.
He concluded that “though Nnamdi Kanu represents the people of Biafra and carries the burden of the Biafra nation, Buhari and Binta Nyako must know that caging him is very far from caging the conscience and consciousness of the Biafra people or the self-determination struggle because the peoples’ struggle is not centered around one man, though Nnamdi Kanu seems to be the leading figure of the current Biafra struggle. Biafra is bigger, taller and greater than leaders of pro-Biafran groups”, he said.
