Okorocha places N5m Bounty on ‘Vampire’

Following the escape of the alleged kidnap kingpin, Henry Chibueze, popularly known as ‘Vampire’ at the Owerri High Court premises on Friday, the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has announced a reward of N5 million for anyone with information that can lead to the re-arrest of the alleged notorious criminal.
This is as the prison authorities have launched a man-hunt for the nine fleeing inmates.
Gunmen believed to be his gang members last Friday invaded the court premises, held judges, lawyers, and litigants to a gun duel while they whisked him away.
The Public Relations Officer of the Imo State Prison Service, DSP, James Madugba, disclosed that 57 inmates fled in the commotion that ensued during the shooting spree by the gunmen.
According to him, 48 inmates have been re-arrested since Friday while nine inmates are still missing.
He explained that men of the command swung into action immediately and their effort has resulted in the re-arrest of 48 out of the 57 inmates.
He assured that the remaining nine people will be arrested to continue facing trial.
Meanwhile, six prison warders are receiving treatment as a result of different degrees of injuries they sustained following the gun battle last Friday.
Gunmen believed to be gang members to Henry had laid siege at the Owerri High Court premises. In order to escape with him, they shot sporadically from different points, scaring people and wounded prison wardens.
