Osun State House of Assembly on Wednesday said it has received “detailed response from Governor Rauf Aregbesola” to the petition of Justice Oloyede Folahanmi, who wrote the lawmakers, demanding probe of the state’s finances under the governor’s watch.

According to a statement signed by Goke Butika, chief press secretary to the Speaker, the Assembly was ready to address the petition sent to it by the judge, having obtained the detailed response of the state’s helmsman on Tuesday.

It added that the Assembly was compelled to set machinery in motion on the investigation of allegation of financial hiccups against the governor.

The parliament assured of fairness and thoroughness in its investigation of all the issues raised with a view to reaching a logical end that would give all parties concerned a sense of justice without fear or favour.

The statement also quoted the Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Najeem Salaam, as telling Justice Oloyede Folahanmi to prepare for personal appearance before the investigative committee whenever a date is fixed for it, to shed more light on the petition.

The statement reads: “I have constituted an investigative committee that will look into the petition forwarded by Justice Oloyede, and I have given the committee mandate to interact with Justice Oloyede in person, for she is in the best position to further shed light on her position as expressed.

“However, I assure all the parties concerned that the matter would be treated with fairness and sense of justice without fear or favour.”
