The member representing Bende Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Nnenna Elendu Ukeje, is set to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a top official of the party in Abia State has disclosed.

The party official said at the weekend that but for the last minute hitches Hon Ukeje would have dumped her party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alongside Senator Andy Uba.

Uba, who like Ukeje, was elected on the PDP platform and is serving his second term in the National Assembly, has last week announced his defection from PDP to APC.

According to the party officer who did not want his name mentioned, Uba had led Ukeje to several meetings with the party leadership in Abuja and on the modalities for dumping PDP and what would be at stake for her in APC.

He added that she appeared uncomfortable with some of the propositions.

“You know Andy Uba is Nnenna’s godfather. He was responsible for helping her come to the House in 2007, 2011, and in 2015. She looks up to him for political direction. So, for Andy to have joined APC in a matter of weeks, Nnenna will follow”, he boasted.

The APC chief also said  that Rep Ukeje, stands a brighter chance of securing a plum position in the APC-dominated House by virtue of her good looks, intelligence and by the fact that she is a ranking member.
