PDP selects Abaribe as Senate Minority Leader

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, who represents Abia South senatorial district, has emerged as Minority Leader of the 9th Senate.

He was selected for the position by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday at a meeting between the party leaders and senators held at the Maitama, Abuja residence of Uche Secondus, the PDP national chairman.

The party also at the meeting, asked Emmanuel Bwacha, senator representing Taraba South to retain his position as Deputy Minority Leader.

The Minority Whip of the 8th Senate, the Federal Capital Territory senator, Phillip Aduda, was also allowed to retain his position.

Although the party is yet to make the outcome of the meeting public, Ripples Nigeria gathered that it will by this Friday (today) do so.

Minority Leader of the precious senate, Biodun Olujimi (Ekiti State), lost his bid to return to the Senate during the last general election.
