The Senators elected on the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) staged a walk out from the floor of the Senate today.
The Senators were led by Senate Minority Leader, and former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio.
The drama was started when the Senate President read on the floor of the Senate, the letter from Senator Yale Omogunwa informing his colleagues of his movement from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Minority Leader then raised a point of order to correct insinuations in the letter that PDP is divided, which was overruled by the Senate President.
In the ensuing drama, the PDP Senators walked out of the red chamber.
Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of the Labour Party assumed the position of Minority and the proceedings continued.
