In the spirit of celebrating workers, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-olu specially dedicated this year’s workers day to celebrating the true heroes of this season; the healthcare workers on the front line of the battle against COVID-19.

Since this virus started to ravage communities and claim lives, the health workers have not just been going to work daily, they have been going to war daily against this unseen enemy.

The Governor stated that he remains committed to workers’ welfare because they are the engine room of the economy.

He tweeted, “l celebrate with all workers across all sectors in Lagos. I celebrate your dedication and devotion to duty even in the face of a global pandemic.”

“I salute you all as you continue to give your best in the service of our state and country”.

The atmosphere was sombre on Friday at the State House in Marina, where the Lagos State Government and leaders of organised labour unions held a low-key event to commemorate the 2020 workers day.
