Police guns down Notorious Armed Robber in Kano

Police in Kano have gunned down a no­torious armed robber identified as Abubakar, who led a robbery syndicate that terrorized residents of Yan­dutse in Bichi Local Gov­ernment Area.

According to the state Police spokesman, Musa Magaji Majia (DSP), Abubakar and his gang stormed a residence in Yandutse on January 29, robbed the occupants of N750, 000 and other valu­ables.

The gang was, however, intercepted by a team of anti-robbery policemen who gunned down Abuba­kar and arrested Ibrahim Mohammed, while others fled.

Briefing journalists at the Kano Police headquar­ters, Majia said Ibrahim Mohammed of Rimin Kebe quarters, criminally con­spired with three others, “armed with locally made Pistols and other danger­ous weapons, stormed a residence at Yandutse Vil­lage, Bichi LGA Kano, at­tacked a family and robbed them of the cash sum of N750,000 and other valu­ables.

“The Police were alert­ed by a Good Samaritan and responded promptly, blocked all the exit roads and the robbers were inter­cepted. A gun duel ensued, in the process one Abuba­kar Surname unknown of Kurna Quarters was gunned down while the above suspect was arrested with a locally made Pistol.
