Prof. Itse Sagay Blasts Akwa-Ibom, Rivers State Supreme Court Judgement

by on February 13, 2016

Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee against corruption and fiery constitutional lawyer, Prof. Itse Sagay on Saturday described the recent Supreme Court Judgments upholding 2015 governorship elections in Rivers and Akwa-Ibom States as “very perverse.”
Prof. Sagay spoke yesterday while answering questions from newsmen in Warri, Delta State
According to him, “The judgments are very perverse. Particularly, relating to Akwa-Ibom and Rivers. Everybody knows there were no elections in those two states. Everybody knows that people like Governor Wike climbed to the governorship seat over dead bodies and blood of human beings..

the judgement stinks, it shows how corrupt the judiciary is especially the so call supreme court. May God visit the blood of those innocent citizens killed before, during and after the election on those judges

The dead bodies upon which wike climbed into government house will rise again for vengeance. Let the celebrations be with magnanimity. Sagay thanks for saying something different from the bandwagon of praise singers.

I DO NOT THINK THAT I AM COMFORTABLE WITH THESE COMMENTS SO CREDITED TO PROF ITSE SAGEY. IN AS MUCH AS I AM NOT IN THE POSITION TO JOIN ISSUES WITH HIM, I WOULD PREFER TO HOLD A DIVERGENT VIEW.
IF THE LAGOS GUBER TRIBUNAL DISMISSED AGBEJE’S PETITION ON TECHNICAL GROUNDS AND IT WAS JUSTICE, HOW COME THE CASE OF RIVERS AND AKWA IBOM WOULD BE ADJUDGED DIFFERENTLY?
ASIDE THAT, JUSTICE AND LAW ARE NOT STRANGE BED FELLOWS. WHETHER TECHNICAL LAW, PROCEDURAL LAW OR SUBSTANTIVE LAW, THE END RESULT IS JUSTICE. ALL LEGAL ISSUES MUST BE RESOLVED BY APPLICATION OF THE MOST RELEVANT LAW/S WHETHER PROCEDURAL OR SUBSTANTIVE.
ABOVE ALL, UNTIL AND WHEN THE REASONS WHICH ARE THE FOUNDATION OF THESE JUDGEMENTS ARE KNOWN AND EXAMINED IT MAY BE HASTY AND UNFOUNDED TO LABEL THESE JUDGEMENTS.
LET US NOT DESECRATE THIS SUPREME COURT OF OURS OR ANY OTHER COURT WHATSOEVER. THEY REPRESENT THE TEMPLE OF JUSTICE, THE RESPITE OF THE COMMON MAN. THEY DO NOT PASS JUDGEMENT BASED ON WHAT EVERYBODY KNOWS OR WHAT IS OBVIOUS BUT IN CONSONANCE WITH THE RELEVANT EXTANT LAWS.
