Rangers return to NPFL top spot as Heartland stops MFM

Rangers International of Enugu yesterday returned to the top spot of the Nigerian Professional Football League with a convincing 3–0 defeat of Akwa United in Enugu.

The victory over the Akwa Ibom promise keepers has propelled the flying Antelopes to top the league with 14 points. after seven weeks of action.

Rangers has also displaced the high riding Mountain of fire and Miracles (MFM), who were halted yesterday by Heartland football club of Owerri at the Dan Anyiam Stadium by a lone goal.

Heartland would have doubled the tally, but their penalty appeal towards the end of the match was neglected by the center referee, when it appeared like an MFM defender had handled the ball inside the 18 yard box.
