Chierika Ukogu made history as the first female rower to represent Nigeria at the Olympics.
With no assistance from Nigeria whatsoever, this 23yr old Stanford Graduate and dual national, put medical school on hold to self-fund her Olympic dream through a job, sponsorship, and ‘go fund me’ page.
The Stamford medicine under graduate just yesterday raised Nigeria’s medal hope in rowing when she qualified for the semi-finals.
She trained with the US Olympic team, and made numerous personal and professional sacrifices to wear Nigeria’s colours.
