Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed, has declared his resolve to contest the 2019 governorship election in Bauchi State under the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mohammed dropped the hint when he visited the newly inaugurated state PDP executives at the party’s secretariat at the weekend.
He said that he was the first person in the party to have formerly expressed the intention to vie for the office, stressing that his decision was informed by the poor performance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government under Governor Mohammed Abubakar.
The former minister expressed optimism that PDP would unseat the ruling party in the next election in the state “because Governor Abubakar has failed woefully to deliver the dividends of democracy to the citizens since his assumption of office two years ago.”
Mohammed said that the PDP had identified all its lapses that led to its defeat in the 2015 polls and had addressed most of the problems.
‘’The coalition of parties that came together and formed the APC are very incongruous with each other with different manifestos and backgrounds. Their only purpose was to make sure they dislodge the PDP which they did without any agenda on the ground,’’ he said.
