Factional national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ali Modu Sherif yesterday slammed former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, describing him as a light-feathered politician who has never won an election throughout his political sojourn.
Sheriff chided Gana yesterday, in Makurdi, Benue State, while on a tour of the state chapter of his faction of the party which took place at Precious Event Centre.
He described as unfortunate Gana’s recent criticism of his faction of the party stressing it was the likes of Gana that begged him to accept the national chairmanship position in the first instance.
“I am in Benue to fulfil my promise to visit the PDP family in the state. I was invited begged and followed to my house by all leaders of PDP to lead the party and I told them in clear terms before accepting the mandate that if I lead the owners of the party which are the members will be in charge of the party and that is exactly what I have vowed to uphold; impunity under whatever guise is not going to be condone and you must all brace up for this challenge”
He thanked the Nigeria Army for clearing the Sambisa Forest where Boko Haram butchered the people in Borno regretting that he was wrongly accused of creating Boko Haram in the country but expressed happiness over the peace that was been restored in Borno State.
On her part, National Women leader, Mrs Hanatu Ulam urged PDP supporters in the state to stand firm for Sheriff bearing in mind that the leadership f the party in the state exercised a high level of impunity on them by relegating them to the background.
She also assured him that the women in the state under her leadership will weigh into the race to revamp the image of the Peoples Democratic Party in the interest of the people.
