#SnapAndSend launched to mobilize Citizen reporting and protection of votes
The new media is changing communication and increasingly becoming a dominant platform for accessing information.
To this end, The People’s Democratic Party(PDP) New Media Directorate with a constituted Digital New Media Team under the leadership of Barrister Anthony Ehilebo; PDP Director New Media, with Demola Olarewaju; Director of Operations and many young professional hands launched #SnapAndSend to mobilize Citizen reportage and protection of votes as the country political climate approaches her general election.
#SnapAndSend creates a platform for citizens to report activities happening in their communities directly to the party situation room during the electioneering process providing Nigerians with realtime reportage.
The initiative is already mobilizing communities to utilize new media technology to combat electoral malpractices and realtime reporting of events pre and post elections.
While encouraging citizens active participation in the electoral process, Barr Anthony said, “Registering to vote, and voting itself, has changed dramatically in recent times, Citizens must take action and there’s no action more important than taking part in an election that will determine the next four years at home and around the world.”
He added, “electoral participation among younger voters is historically low and there is a large voter population that is not registered to vote. The trend of non-participation represents a serious threat to our polity and how we are viewed globally. The launch of #SnapAndSend campaign will mobilize young voters across the country to take action, register to vote and monitor the process effectively”
For this initiative, the PDP Digital New Media is partnering with Nigerians for the successful launch and full participation of citizens who are urged to take advantage of the platform.
