Senator Adamu Abubakar moves for the approval of Votes and Proceedings of Wednesday 2nd November 2016 and Senator Yayi Adeola seconded.
Senator Sam Anyanwu Reads 39 petitions that emanated from office of the Senate President.
The petitions are referred to Committee on Ethics Privileges and Public Petitions.
POINTS OF ORDER
Senator James Manager raises a point of order urging the Committee on Ethics to be guided by the Senate rules and discard frivolous petitions.
Coming from a point of order Senate Leader, Ali Ndume raised a motion on a publication on page 6 of the SUN Newspaper of 2nd November 2016. Titled: 2016 Budget: Blame NASS for failure to meet the October timing.
“The MTEF is empty, it has been reviewed by some of my colleagues, it contains nothing and how do we consider nothing”? – Ali Ndume.
“This is a very important issue which is why the Leader brought it, it is not an issue of blame games” –
“I called the Minister of Budget and he confirmed that he was quoted out of context that he will address this” – Sen Akpan Basssey
”It is important to let Nigerians know that we’re ready to take the Budget Planning at any time, this is not time to point fingers” – Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu .
CONSIDERATION OF REPORTS
Two Reports were considered they are:
1. Report of the Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND Gross Mismanagement of Education Tax Fund. By Sen. Jibrin Barau (Kano North).
Outcome: All Recommendations were adopted.
2. Report of the Committee on Health. Counterfeit and Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Food Act 2004. SB. 55. By Sen. Lanre Tejuosho .
Outcome : Considered and passed for third reading.
Senate Leader moves for other items on the order paper be stood down to another legislative and Minority Leader Seconded. Senate President puts the question.
