The Bayelsa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting at the Court of Appeal in Abuja yesterday granted the request by the All Progressives Congress and its governorship flagbearer, Chief Timipre Sylva, praying it to inspect and make copies of 30 items used for the governorship election in the State.
The three-man panel of the tribunal headed by Justice Kazeem Alogba, however refused to grant seven other prayers of the Sylva saying he failed to convince the tribunal on how those items would affect his case.
In the said motion, the petitioner had through his counsel, Mr Sabastine Hon (SAN), sought an order of the tribunal to compel the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow him inspect election materials used for the polls.
Among the 37 materials sought to be inspected are the ballot papers used and thumb printed.
However, in his opposition to the request, Governor Seriake Dickson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), urged the tribunal to refuse the application for lacking in merit.
