Ed Miliband, Nick Clegg and Nigel Farage have all resigned following the disastrous performance of their respective parties in the UK’s General Election overnight.
Ed Miliband, the Labour leader announced his resignation after he led his party to its worst performance at an election since Neil Kinnock was leader.
Mr Miliband said he is standing down after taking “absolute and total responsibility” for the party’s defeat. At Labour’s headquarters in central London, he addressed staff and expressed his “sorrow” at the result.
His resignation comes after a devastating night for Labour in which the party was wiped out in Scotland and failed to make inroads in England.
