UNESCO to Celebrate Sports Development and Peace Day with 300 School Children in Abuja

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will on Saturday, April 6th celebrate the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace across the world.

A statement from the organizers revealed that the event will be celebrated in Abuja with over 300 School children who will feature in three sports that includes; badminton, basketball and gymnastics.

The event coordinator and head coach of TIG Gymnastic, Anthony Asuquo said that the International Day is an opportunity to raise the banner for the power of sport for development and peace.

“The International Day is an opportunity to raise the banner for the power of sport for development and peace. The UNESCO’s aim is to contribute to the building of peace, by eradicating poverty especially as the world takes forward the Development. This year we are mobilizing over 300 school children(public schools and less privilege homes) with 100 per cent support from UNESCO to participate in Badminton, Basketball and Gymnastics.”Asuquo was quoted in a statment.

 UNESCO pursues its objectives through five major programs: educationnatural sciencessocial/human sciences, culture and communication/information.
