The National National Social Investment Programmes (N-SIP) headed by Mrs Mariam Uwais has affected the lives of over 20 million Nigerians.This was according to a report made available to The Breaking Times.
The reports released in December 2018,titled: “Investing in our people”.
The reports shows how 500,000 graduates and 100,000 non graduates have benefited from the job creation of the youth employment scheme (N-POWER).
National Home Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP) has tremendously increased the number of enrollment in public schools,thereby affecting lives of 12 million children,the report noted.
The Report also showed how the National Cash Transfer Programme (NCPT) have affected over 1 million poorest of the poor household through the conditional cash transfer 0f 5,000 naria.
The Report also captures the micro,small and medium enterprises who have from Government Enterprise and Empowerment(GEEP). 2.5 MILLION Nigerians especially traders have benefited from this scheme,the reports concludes.
An excited Mariam Uwais told The Breaking Times that the scheme is targeted at the poor who constitutes over 80 percent of the country.
“Am happy that the scheme is affecting the poor who are majority in Nigeria.If you look at the voting pattern in the presidential elections,you will see that poor people voted massively for President Buhari.We shall contiue to touch the lives of vulnerable Nigerians”.
According to her there are no fewer than 80 million poor Nigerians and the office want to get the poorest persons data using appropriate means.
She observed that credible targeting was a major concern in National Cash Transfer Programme, prompting the National Social Investment Office (NSIO) to develop a Social Register in all the states that met the criteria provided in the agreement signed with it.
In the National Home Grown School Feeding (NHGSFP), Uwais stated that the programme has generated a lot of employment opportunities.
“We have also hired and empowered 72,510 cooks in the 53,541 schools being serviced.
