Who is Anne Welsh? Meet the Woman Obasanjo Fired for ‘Fraud’

Anne has a BSc. Honours in Accounting and Finance from Hertfordshire University and a
MSc. in Investment Management from Cass Business School UK. She is certified by the
Financial Conduct Authority in the UK. She began her Investment Banking career with
Lehman Brothers in 2004. She established herself as a Senior Associate in Sales and
Marketing team as part of the Asset Management Division supporting the UK, Europe, the
Middle East and Emerging African Markets.

As the CEO and Co-Founder of Arise Consult, Anne’s role is to apply her strengths as a
‘Friend of Africa’ to deliver solutions, unlock value and propel growth onto the Continent.
Her strategic advice and strong connection in Africa has helped companies and governments
stabilize, grow and thrive during challenging times. In this capacity she contributes as a
Senior Advisor to New World Capital where her input into decisions on major energy and
industrial projects in Africa benefit the continent’s growth agenda.


Anne also invests her time and effort in the local people and entrepreneurs that will be the
wellsprings of future opportunity in Africa. As Vice Chairperson of the Olusegun Obasanjo
Foundation, a UK based charity that operates in the advancement of human security for the most disadvantaged in Africa, she works with the Founder & Chairman President Olusegun Obasanjo – the former President of Nigeria, board members, staff and volunteers to set the agenda and influence global initiatives on behalf of the Foundation.

Anne understands and has first-hand experience regarding health care in Africa. She has
Sickle Cell and has been advocating for quality of care for sickle cell patients, through her
work as the previously elected Chair of the Sickle Cell Society UK where she served in this
role for three years. She actively promotes the awareness of the disease across all political
and community associations as well as being a leading voice in working with medical
professionals to advance the quality of care. She is a distinguished author and speaker on the subject having worked with individuals across the globe well known for their charitable

Anne Welsh allegedly met former president Olusegun Obasanjo during a Brussels conference in 2011 when Anne was the Chairperson of Sickle Cell Society. At the event, he befriended her and encouraged her to begin do some work with Africa.

Anne enjoys fitness activities, horse riding and playing tennis. She is currently working on designing and launching her fashion line the Anne Welsh Label and finishing her book.
