Why I Usually Wear Palm Slippers – Obanikoro

Minister of State II for Foreign Affairs, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro has clarified his much talked about taste for palm-slipper footwears.

The Minister came under harsh criticism on Friday in the Nigerian social media over what critics described as “too informal for a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

But in a telephone interview with BREAKING TIMES on Friday, Senator Obanikoro revealed the real reason behind his usual choice of the slippers. “I have serious problems with my toes. I was operated on them twice but the pain still won’t go away. This has made it very difficult for me to wear proper shoes as frequently as I would love to”, he said.

Known for his trim and physically fit physique which he attributes to a “healthy eating habit and a regular appointment at the gym”, Senator Obanikoro easily passes for one of Nigeria’s trendiest Ministers.

    Why all these complaints and troubles? Are we not Africans? While growing up most of us always move around without shoes, Obanikoro at least wears palm sandals.
