Moses Simon may have lost an opportunity to be part of Coach Rohr’s squad for next month’s World Cup qualifier againsr Zambia in Ndola.
His club Gents confirmed that the player sustained hamstring tear after undergoing a scan last weekend.
The winger sustained the injury in the closing minutes of the first half during Gent’s 1-1 draw with Sporting Braga in the Europa League last Thursday.
Speaking after the 1-0 loss to Oostende on Sunday, Gent manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck did not reveal the number of weeks the Nigerian will spend o n the sidelines, but it is a s s ume d t h a t he will be unavailable f o r selection for up to t h r e e weeks.
I n nine outings for Gent in all competitions so far this season, Moses Simon has scored 2 goals and provided 3 assists.
Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr is also sweating on the fitness of Portuguese-based striker Oghenekaro Etebo ahead of the national team’s next fixture.
The Franco-German coach is expected to release the names of players invited to the national camp ahead of the World Cup qualifier fixture against the Chipolopolo of Zambia.
